Tout comme les [[Aptitudes de Fallout 4|Aptitudes de Fallout 4]], les [[Cartes d'aptitude de Fallout 76|cartes d'aptitude]] de [[Fallout 76]] remplacent les compétences des titres précédents. Chaque [[Cartes d'aptitude de Fallout 76|carte d'aptitude]] vaut un certain nombre de points dans son attribut [[SPECIAL de Fallout 76|SPECIAL]]. Les [[Cartes d'aptitude de Fallout 76|cartes]] de rang supérieur valent plus de points, on peut les créer en combinant 2 cartes identiques de rang inférieur. Les [[Cartes d'aptitude de Fallout 76|cartes]] de rang supérieur ont de plus grands effets. Les joueurs peuvent équiper plusieurs cartes d'un même attribut [[SPECIAL de Fallout 76|SPECIAL]] à condition que la valeur totale en points des [[Cartes d'aptitude de Fallout 76|cartes]] ne dépasse pas le niveau de l'attribut, le maximum étant de 15 pour chaque attribut et de 49 pour l'ensemble des attributs. Les joueurs peuvent échanger des cartes à tout moment.
Tout comme les [[Aptitudes de Fallout 4|Aptitudes de Fallout 4]], les [[Cartes d'aptitude de Fallout 76|cartes d'aptitude]] de [[Fallout 76]] remplacent les compétences des titres précédents.
 
Les aptitudes ont un niveau maximum, allant de 1 à 5 selon l'aptitude. Pour augmenter le niveau d'une aptitude, il faudra combiner 2 cartes de cette même aptitude.
Après chaque gain de niveau, les joueurs peuvent choisir 1 attribut [[SPECIAL de Fallout 76|SPECIAL]] à augmenter et reçoivent une [[Cartes d'aptitude de Fallout 76|carte]] aléatoire (pouvant avoir déjà été acquise). Les joueurs recevront également des packs de cartes bonus aux niveaux 4, 6, 8 et 10, puis tous les 5 niveaux. Après le niveau 50, les joueurs continueront à monter de niveau et recevront des paquets de cartes mais ne pourront augmenter aucun attribut SPECIAL. Chaque paquet contient 4 cartes, dont certaines peuvent être verrouillées. Ces cartes bonus requièrent un niveau de personnage de joueur minimum et porteront un cadenas et le niveau nécessaire pour l’équiper.
Le joueur pourra sélectionner les aptitudes souhaitées et disponibles et en changer quand il voudra.
 
Outre les avantages associés à des effets de groupe, vous pouvez sélectionner des avantages à partager entre les membres du groupe.
 
De nouvelles cartes bonus peuvent être ajoutées après le lancement, en particulier lors d'événements saisonniers.
